  The only place a hybrid makes sense is in an urban environment, where it
can take advantage of regenerative braking to recharge the batteries. Other
than that, on the highway you're stuck with an underpowered, overweight
vehicle.

 I'm sure that a diesel-powered hybrid would return far better mileage than
a gas-powered one. Since hybrids are here to stay, I'm sure, it will be good
to at least see a diesel-electric variant.
