[Vwdiesel] oil squirters

I am not planning on modding a n/a block, but curious about it. I actually
have 2 good used 1.6TD engines sitting out of cars waiting for something to be
done to them. :-) But I thought I recalled someone other than Loren
mentioning some other possibility. When I get into either of the two TD engines I
have I will seriously look into what options there would be. I don't care for
the simple drilled hole due to concern about low rpm oiling of the rods. The
stock squirters shut down, holes don't. The $160 is outrageous. Absurd even.
$5 each, maybe $10. They'd sell more TD pistons that way and more
squirters... Who are they kidding. I would like to consider further options that would
squirt above a specified pressure, but would prefer mounting on the main
bearing areas to avoid the purchase of new pistons also.
I did pull the head off one of the TD engines today to take a peek. Still
decent crosshatching in the cylinders and an almost imperceptible (i have decent
perception) ridge. STD pistons. I also pulled the pan and found some metal
bits. They look remarkably like pieces of intermediate shaft bearings.
Anyone know a decent source for the pre-reamed ones? Any tips on removal and
installation?

Andrew
