[Vwdiesel] oil squirters

Well, there's proper and then there's proper.
Not to backpedal, if the bearings were designed to be pressed in like a
chevy cam bearing, then yeah, they should fit, as long as you use the proper
install tool, and correct compression of the bearing is allowed for when the
bearing is made, adn the hole is exactly the right size, and not pounded out
by a previous usage..and...and....
I didn't know there are pre-reamed bearings. All that really means is that
they have an oversized hole, and some squish is allowed for. BUT, if the
right amount of squish isn't available, then the bearing clearances would be
too big, explaining your low oil pressure also.
There really is only one way to do it, pre-reamed bearings or not. The
clearance is pretty critical for proper oil control.

This is interesting news. I originally got stock bearings for my TD rebuild,
but the shop I took
the block to didn't have to the tooling to ream them in place. So he ordered
pre-reamed
bearings and installed those. Your comment makes me wonder if this could
have something
to do with my oil pressure troubles, which continue even after the rebuild.
My oil pressure is
only slightly better than before rebuild (20-25psi hot at the head @2000rpm
with 15w40), and
that was with 300k+ kms, and int shaft bearings that were flaking apart.
Next time I will definitely find a shop who can do the bearings properly.
