[Vwdiesel] new N/A Injection pump question

Yup thats the pump I purchased from Halsey Automotive in Portland Or. I
found my Bosch VE Reference manual and it is called a Hydraulic cold-start
injection advance. (KSB).
Still not sure exactly how this unit is supposed to work, my book labels the
electrical element (black part with the connector on it) as a Electrically
heated expansion element. It might be as I originally compared it to the
pict 28's electrically heated choke. (not the fuel shut off soleniod as was
mentioned in an earlier email)
If I am correct then this connector should be 12 volts when the car is
switched on. As the heater warms up the advance is reduced. I'll try and
scan the page this weekend and provide a link for anyone that's interested
to look at it.
If anyone has a factory installed pump like this one, It would be handy to
know if the element gets 12v when the key is switched on.
I found a new bearing seal for the old pump and installed it, Its 7mm wide
but it appears theres room for an 8mm seal. tomorrow I plan on putting on a
new belt and seeing if I the seal will resolve the problem. I've asked a
local distributor to find this seal manufactured in viton.
So even if the pump seal doesn't solve the problem I still have the new pump
on hand.
I've just started a new job with a 40 mile commute, so I'm looking to do
whatever I can to improve mileage.
Next project is a diesel mileage computer. I've got the flow sensors for
both inlet and outlet. I have a odometer sender. I plan on using a PIC
microprocessor or a basic stamp. Any of you out there familar with PIC or
stamp programming and are interested in this project, please write me, I'm
new to Microcontrollers and writing the programming for the sensors has got
me hanging .

Thanks Steve

Thanks Steve
