[Vwdiesel] automatic cold start-Paging Roger

A push solenoid should be fine also, just use a lever to make it pull. This 
way you can also adjust the stroke by altering the pivot of the lever, since 
most solenoids have a fairly short stroke. But the solenoid would have to be 
strong enough... a starter solenoid perhaps?
