okay the 94 frankenjetta (1.6TD) is STILL sitting. (of course, we hit
-25F this week and it's outside.) Since it's 5F I might work on it
again.
Pump losing prime only at high revs.. Hmmmm looks like it's not the
pump but bubbles bubbles bubbles.
I replaced the hose from the IP to the filter and the filter to the
check valve. No bubbles, great! 15 miles later I stalled on the
highway. got it idling and could alternate 1 min idle with 30 secs revs
to get home, ugh.
I found a wet spot on the fuel line where the plastic line from the tank
fits into a crimp fitting on the 5" long rubber hose that then connects
to a check valve (then into another 5" hose to crimp fitting to plastic
hose and then it goes up in to the engine compartment) It's just inside
the rear passenger wheel.
I wish the 94s still had the metal fuel lines.
I'd like to NOT drop the tank in the winter. Any suggestions on how to
replace the crimp fitting and rubber part of the hose? I was thinking
there might be some kind of insert, like there is on the rubber to clear
line on the IP inlet hose.
And it is cold, so I'm try not to break anything.
Ideas? Experience?
