  On the Jetta I don't even notice that the A/C is on most of the time.  It 
tends to accelerate more like a NA diesel when it's on yet still better.  
It's usually the second or third time I step on it and realize it seems a 
little 
sluggish before I realize it's the A/C.  Noticeable but not awful.  Don't 
feel 
it kick in and out though like a lot of cars.  :-)  Haven't run one on an NA 
but I recall one time hearing that a tech was buying a trade-in at the dealer 

and he was installing air on it.  He should've known how good or bad it 
would be on power.
