[Vwdiesel] Diesel Head Part Numbers?

The head I am replacing on my '81 1.6NA diesel pickup has the number 068 103
373 B cast into it. I'm pretty sure the block is CR, although I can't see
the number on it. I was told this engine IS NOT original to this vehicle. My
old Jetta TD and the head from an old Quantum TD both have 068 103 373 E. My
'86 DoubleCab 1.6NA diesel has 068 103 373 M.

I read an old message from Gary Bangs on the vwfans list that said  the 068
103 373 B is for the 1.6NA with mechanical lifters and 068 103 373 N is for
the 1.6TD with mechanical lifters.

So anyway, must I replace only with a likewise "B" head, or can I use others
and what are their "letters"? What other 1.6L mechanical head options
(letters) were there?
