[Vwdiesel] noises while moving

Cut tires (unevenness in the tread normally caused by bad shock
absorbers) can also sound like wheel bearing rumble. If you can
eliminate the tires (change with another vehicle temporarily or just
inspect them to see if there is uneven tread) it may save you a lot of
time and effort getting the bearing addressed. If you jack up each wheel
and spin it you should hear a rumble if the bearing is really bad (if
its marginal you may not hear anything) and there will probably be play
in the wheel when rocked back and forth vertically parallel to the
vehicle. If it makes a rumble it's a bearing, if not it may be tires but
could still be bearings.

Subject: [Vwdiesel] noises while moving
What type of noise can I expect if a rear wheel bearing is going bad?
I hear something when the Caddy is rolling. It sounds like it's on the
drivers side. It changes its tune as I go faster. The drivers side front
wheel bearing is new about six months ago. There isn't any vibration,
yet.
Where should I start looking? Do CV joints make noises that change tune
with speed? There is no clicking or clunking when I make turns.
If it might be a rear wheel bearing, can I save it by repacking it or is
it already gone?
