There was a fairly recent post of a link to the archives on a previous
question about searching them. If you search the recent archives.... ;-D
I don't know how it's done myself, never tried other than just accessing
the archives a couple times.
Be careful using beer to change the head gasket on a VW/Audi diesel.
First make sure it's only consumed AFTER working on it! ;-)
Depending on mileage you'll at least want to inspect the valves and
check for guide wear, replace the valve stem seals. I've found that
generally the exaust valve stems will be worn closest to the head of the
valve and the guides are often worn enough to warrant replacing them.
You can DIY the guides if you have the tools to remove the valves. :-)
Of course there's always a re-ring... ;-)
The oil seal around the one head bolt where the oil comes up, sounds
like it's leaking. It happens sometimes. It doesn't mean the gasket will
fail. It simply means you'll get oil leaking to the outside of the engine.
