James,
Have you done this a few times already? Just more curious about the
ordeal and more details. Not for sure about ths shimming. I was seeing it
as putting some pressure on the head with the bolts, then heat up and see
how much closer it gets, but you mention shims? What type of shims? Valve
adjusters?

an old kitchen stove oven. Basic as popcorn.
bolt the head to an inch plate with shims to correct the wrong-ness.
Bake at 450 for 60 minutes or until tender. Shut off oven and let cool
in place.
