[Vwdiesel] Warped head

I've done this with VW case halves years ago.
That is pretty simple, clamp them together, bake.
Landladies do NOT take kindly to the aroma.
Heads require you to put some opposite pressure on them to get a twist
out if it's bad enough. I would try just clamping to a plate, and
heating first.
What used to happen, with case halves, and I suspect that it's partially
to blame in the case of a diesel head as well, is that the steel
fasteners don't grow as fast as the aluminum... so the Al heats up, and
sort of smooshes out. VW aircooled cases would just pull studs out of
the case in indignation, but he block is too robust to allow that... so
the studs eventually stretch, after which the head leaks, but I suspect
not before plastically deforming the head. rewarming it *should* allow
it to come back, at least some.
If the ends are high, like a rocking chair, then you would need to get
that out with maybe a .010 shim along the middle.. that sort of thing.
It's far from a science when dealing with cast non-ferrous stuff. Gimme
an iron head anyday.
