[Vwdiesel] oil around injectors/smoke problem

I just got an '81 Caddy and drove it accross from NH-CO, and it starting blowing
blue/white smoke that got progressively worse. Initially it was only at startup
(glow plugs were totally shot), but now it smokes when it's hot, and really bad
when cold. Misses at idle now, too. Seems to have good power, though. 150k on
odometer.

I noticed oil oozing from around the #1 injector when running, and today I
pulled it out and it had oil all around the nozzle, and even sitting on the
heat shield. #3 was the same, but #1 had no oil. After cleaning it out, oil
seemed to seep back in overnight. Anyone know how oil could leak into there?
