Just want to make a technical note. From what I understand Biodiesel itself
acts as a solvent and has properties that will degrade natural rubber and
some other materials.
When biodiesel is made, the methanol bonds with the fatty acids in the
vegetable oil and makes a new molecule called a mono alkyl methy ester.
True biodiesel does not have 'methanol' in it.
Biodiesel with excess methanol in it would NOT meet ASTM standards and
should not be available commercially. If you are using homebrew, and not
washing or using methanol recovery, you may have methanol left over in the
biodiesel. this isn't good even with viton seals.
This link from Iowa State goes into detail on the compatibility of various
materials with biodiesel.
