[Vwdiesel] Hard starting fixed

Hi all
I finally got my engine running properly.
It was the one that took 10 to 15 seconds of cranking to start in the cold, even when plugged in ,then ran good once it started.
It looks like it was a combination of problems, because it now runs better than when the previous owner owned it (friend of mine (still) ).
-there was a bad glow plug that I caught in the beginning.
-brittle fuel lines from the filter.
-weak starter.
-It was a little better each time, until finally the fault completely disappeared when
I tightened the bolt at the fuel input line on the pump.(at least one of you mentioned it might be air in the line)
So probably that time I was heating the pump and it worked, I was just heating the fuel to ignite easier, or possibly expanded the metal to match the seal.
I still have no cold start, but it warms up quick enough that I'm not worried.
The pump is on it's last leggs so I'm keeping my eyes open for a post 85 pump ,from what I understand the 85 pumps are interchangable with the newer ones.
Thanks
Paul
