[Vwdiesel] valve adjustment

Shame about the Chilton manual.
Robert Bentley Publications is the one to have if you are into the
service manual for this.

A thumbnail sketch of the procedure is to measure the cam-follower
clearance with a feeler gauge on a warm engine. If the tolerance is off
remove the cam follower disc, measure it, and add/subtract to get the
correct tolerance by using a different disc, not adding/removing shims.
There is only one shim in play, the one you remove and replace to
alter the clearance.
Removal and installation of the discs requires some tools to make it
easy, much like your benz- if you have the right wrenches, valve
adjustment is easy... without it's a real pain.
A micrometer or caliper is necessary as well to measure the disc thickness.
