[Vwdiesel] fuel injection pump reinstallation

You can also fill the filter with the new, clean
diesel fuel. That way the pump won't have to do it
after you get the car running.
First time I ever did a timing belt, I did it on my
diesel which I had driven from Kansas to Colorado to
get. I just marked the old pump and the new pump and
reinstalled it.
At the same time, I installed a new filter.
The engine smoked and bucked so much until the filter
filled itself I was just sure I had broken something
and stranded myself in Colorado.
Some folks will recommend you fill the new filter with
ATF--it is supposed to lube the pump and clean things
out.
