[Vwdiesel] Liters per US gallon--Fuel prices

Here in the US, the Government makes 10 times what the
oil companies do on the sale of gasoline. (Taxes, of
course.)

The profits of the oil companies, percentage wise, are
right on line with the national average of all
companies. (7% for the oil companies vs. 6.8%
average.) Coke, for example, makes about 20% profit.

So, if we drank as much Coke as we used gasoline, not
only would we all be very very fat, but Coke would
make something like 1200 Billion dollars. Nobody
gripes about that.

The oil companie's profits are high simply because we
use a whole lot of their product.

So, I don't think that we are being robbed by the oil
companies, but instead being robbed by the freakin'
government.

Finally, that is the major problem with fuel prices in
Europe. A very very large chunk of that is because of
taxes imposed by their nearly socialistic
governements.
