[Vwdiesel] Liters per US gallon--Fuel prices

And that's why their citizens have free universal health care, while 40 000
000 Americans live without health coverage.

These "nearly socialistic" (sic) countries typically place ahead of the USA
on the annual UN Human Development Report, despite the fact that their
per-capita GDPs are often lower than the USA.

Canadians are well-known for their moaning about taxation levels relative to
their American neighbours. As my political science profs used to say,
"Canadians expect European levels of service for American levels of
taxation. You can't have it both ways." Taxes, whether they are imposed on
fuel, income, or consumption, are there to pay for services. Americans have
had cheap fuel for too long. It's about time that the US motoring public
begins to realize the real cost of cheap fuel. Pollution, gridlock, urban
sprawl, etc., are some of the "benefits" of not having to care about how
much it costs you to run your car.

BTW, it cost me $66.00 (CDN) to fill up my 2005 Jetta TDI wagon yesterday.
It didn't bother me. I accept the fact that in this post-9/11, post-Katrina
world, it's gonna cost me more to fill up. That's why I drive a diesel.
