[Vwdiesel] [TDI-conversion] Turbo rebuilders? (KKK K14)

Ok, got it apart again. Lots of oil on both sides. I didn't think about positioning the seal rings
with gap at the top until Andrew mentioned it, but both sides were close to the top somehow
by fluke. I measured ring end gap, and the new rings are between 0.15 and 0.20mm at both
ends. (same size rings). I broke one of the old rings to use as a scraper, but the other old one
is tighter than new - less than 0.15mm endgap. Maybe this turbo has between machined with
larger rings? Nothing else unusual. Drain is clear. Hmm... I just checked the other end of the
line into the pan by blowing into it, and got some backpressure, then poof and it went clear. I
waited a few minutes and tried again, but the slight pressure from oil in the line is much less
now. So it seems there may have been something in the line.
The bad news is pulling this turbo apart again has further damaged the turbine shaft around
the seal ring, as I don't know how to get it in place since there is no room to compress the
ring. I managed the first time, but now it doesn't want to go.
I suspect I will be pulling this turbo again soon. I've been quoted $300+ for a rebuild
depending on extra parts needed. If anyone has a line on a *new* turbo, K14 or similar,
please let me know. At this point I would consider a new unit just to avoid further hassle.
Thanks
