[Vwdiesel] need fuel pump to keep engine running?

This can happen sometimes when the IP's vane pump freezes or gets
weak. As long as the actual distributor pump and plunger part of the
IP is working fine (and it sounds like it is, if the engine runs
great), there's nothing wrong with using the IP as is with an electric
lift pump in line before it to feed the fuel. Been done many times
before.
