had a 1979 Rabbit diesel when I lived in LA & installed a Racor filter =
to filter the water out of the fuel. I had seen the spare tire well =
round auxiliary fuel tanks. There was a "continental kit" option for =
those with the spare wheel tank. I had an auxiliary tank that came up to =
the lower hatch back lip. It was narrow enough so you could still keep =
the spare tire in its proper place. I have a couple of 1981 Rabbit =
diesel project cars that don't look as nice but are rust free.
