  I think the idea is that if the volume of blowby exceeds a certain amount,
ie. runaway the valve shuts off the flow.  At least that's the way the cad 
plated versions on the V-8 diesels works and I was thinking the hockey 
puck was a similar device.  I don't think they call it anything resembling 
an oil seperator.
