[Vwdiesel] Block Heater In!

I finally ordered my new block heater and got it
installed today! I'm sure the Cabriolet will be much
less grumpy tomorrow when I go to wake her up.
Getting the old one out was a pain. It didn't have a
bolt holding it in, it was a flathead screw that I had
to loosen. It was a total pain to get it out, it was
very difficult to keep the screwdriver in the slot.
Getting the new in was also a pain. It didn't want to
slip easily into the hole, and the nut that holds it
in kept stripping. I had to make a couple hardware
store runs because I wasn't smart enough to buy more
than one on the first trip.
Also, I was planning on dumping and reusing the
coolant. I don't know why I thought it was in as good
of shape as I did, but that is what I was planning.
It was pretty dirty and rusty, so I grabbed some flush
stuff and new coolant and flushed it out good before
finishing up.
I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end, but it the job
was much more than I was originally planning. It
appears the new one works. When I unplugged the
extension cord to put the timer inline, there was a
spark, so I guess it was drawing power.
I did have new tires installed today as well, so that
will be really nice!
Someone asked for an update, so there it was...
