Get a long sheet metal of dry wall screw, thread it down in the center of
the heat shield and carefully work the heat shield out that way. You might
also want to suck out as much of the loose carbon as you can with a shop vac
so it doesn't go down into the cylinder.

Does anyone have any tips for removing stuck Injector Heat Shields without
removing the Head.  The Injectors came out easy but there is a small amount
of Carbon on the lower portion of the boss near the shields.
 
They don't look to be too bad but don't want to just lift out with a magnet.
Slide Hammer??
