Hi all, it's been a while... the first cranes arrived
today (no... the flying kind...) so spring has arrived
and the snow has melted enough to let me in the shed
to have a look at the Passat engine I got to put in my
Syncro Transporter...
First thing I noticed (apart from the mess of extra
wires and sensors it seems to have compared to the
Transporter JX engine) is the turbo oil feed (or is it
the return??) comes out of a core plug on the side of
the block.
On the JX the feed comes off the top of the filter
housing and over the head.
Presuming I can get the manifold to fit over it and I
can do a bit of plumbing could I leave it where it is?
(just wondering cos the engine is tipped on it's side
in the transporter.)
'Nother thing, the "spaceship" on the punp... FDA?
(now I know why you call it that...) is very different
looking to the FDA on the transporter pump...
I have to change a few brackets on the pump anyway but
do you think it'll make any difference if I leave it
or is it best to put the old FDA on? (don't know if it
will stick up into the engine cover or not...)
Anyway, that's all for now... enjoy the sunshine...
