[Vwdiesel] Alternate Jack Locations

On my foam-filled A2 rustmobile (I would NEVER attempt to jack the swiss
cheese rockers)
I jack the rear wheels on the inner square flange of the back of the axel
stub bracket.

The round, notched cup of a tranny jack engages it perfectly.

For the front end, I usually jack the A-arm as close to the front wheels as
possible.

I have also jacked the front end with my shop floor jack, right under the
front engine mount where it bolts to the cross member.

On the older A2's (like goldie, an 87) with four lifting loops, I use a 4
foot , heavy duty trailer safety chain, with the heavy hooks and hook gates,
in the front or back loops, to lift the end of the car up in the air, using
the shop hoist.

THEN LET IT DOWN ON JACK STANDS !

safe jack stand locations, are rear, at the axel bracket pivots, and front,
where the sub frame is bolted to the body rails.

I tried the round assembly supports (front, with the triangular holes) once,
and pushed one right up through the remains of the floor.

Any frame part that will support the car on the road, should be able to hold
it up on the jack stands.

Sandy
