Thanks Andy.  I will be looking here for sure and I am
going to remove the water seperator.
I can cut my fuel line before the check valve and run
the motor from a gallon of diesel to see if that stops
the air source.  I found the check valve on the
1stvwpart.com Seattle VW dealer web sight for like $37
Again, the check valve is not 100% needed either.  My
vanagon is a strait plastic fuel line from tank to old
style filter and from filter to pump, no frills, NO
AIR.  Then from the OUT banjo on pump back to the
tank.  The water seperator tank has some sort of level
indicator in it to flash your glow plug light if it
fills up, come on now, this is just silly and good old
german over engineering.  That is why we love them.
