This is the 92 Eco Diesel I just got running this
week. Check valve
was source of 90% of the air in fuel lines, so it has
been removed.
Running ok without it. New fuel filter, but not the
source of ail.
The car is still running rough on initial startup with
lots of smoke,
so it was not all the cause of air in the lines. Seems
to be running
on 3 cyl. Once it runs for 1 or 2 mins. it smooths out
and idles
nice. I did drive it a bit around a few blocks, power
is fine,
response it good.
Oil pressure is low, 30psi, then 20psi when warm, but
have not gotten
it out and up to speeds to see if oil pressure goes
up, it should.

My BIG concern is the leaking oil from back corner of
head, Rear
right side, cyl. #4 at the head gasket. I have a bad
feeling I
scored the head when putting it on, thinking the
alignment pin went
in a hole in the head, like my 1.9
Then I realized the 2 pins in the back of the block
are to keep the
head from sliding off the back of the block when
assembling.
The oil leak must be coming from a mark on the head
surface. I was
hoping the head gasket would fill the scratch.
***
So, it is not that bad of a leak to take the head off
again.
Assuming I do not find anything alarming with
compression test, what
do you all suggest.
1. Run the car for 1,000 miles and crank the head
bolts another 1/2
turn hoping it stops the leak. This is 92 block with
new stock
stretch bolts.
2. Compression test on #3 and #4 for sure.
3. #3 cyl. has new rings, as I broke the lower ring
when removing it to clean oil groves and inspect
damaged piston. This could be the source of some of my
smoke until they seat, yes?
Thanks, again, Bryan Belman
