[Vwdiesel] not a bad lifter, but timing was off on the 92 TD, all fixed now.

Thanks again Loren, you were correct. Timing was off
on the Eco Diesel causing the sound that seemed as if
I had a collaped lifter. Finally had time check it
yesterday with warm temps and now all is fine. Cam
was off a bit as well as pump timing. Lets hope
things stay were they belong now at least for another
10K or so.

I guess I should ask, is there a flaw with how I check
timing.
1. Find TDC mark on fly wheel.
2. Pop cam gear off and set cam and install cam lock.
3. torque cam bolt to 35ftlb keeping cam gear locked
up front, not using cam lock at the other end to keep
if from moving.
4. Insert pump guage.
5. turn motor counter clock wise until the dial no
longer moves.
6. Zero the dial.
7. Move engine clock wise back to TDC mark.
8. Read pump timing advance
9. move pump + or -
10. Recheck pump timing the same way as before.

Big Question, should I be turning the motor over a
full ratation somewhere in my process, could not doing
this flaw my readings?

Thanks, Bryan

Bryan.
