If you haven't read these two links, I urge you to do so & a BIG thank you to Roger Brown. These articles are about a German Opel concept car that set some new world RECORDS! 1)It ran at an average speed of over 141 MPH for over 24 hours and averaged 31.4 MPG for the run! In a run to achieve maximum economy the same car got as high as 111.2 MPG!
Remember, Opel is the European division of General Motors! Now this was a special concept car designed to showcase their new ECOTECH 1.3 CDTI diesel engine. the engine also meets the Euro 4 emission limits, what ever that is. If GM can build an engine like this for the European market, why can't they build one for the American market? I have shunned GM products due to the crap they sold in the USA during the 1980s. However, if they would sell a Chevy HHR with this diesel engine for $1,000 or even $2,000 above the price of a gas engine HHR & offer a 10 year/100,000 mile driveline warranty like Hyundai/Kia does, they would probably get me back as a customer.
