[Vwdiesel] States that allow conversions? WAS: TDI Passet 4 motion

Here in Alaska as long as it looks and sounds like a diesel it can be in
any chassis, and no smog checks.  

I've got the sticker of approval on my 1994 gas to 1.6TD FrankenJetta.  

When I reregistered something in the system wanted me to get a smog
check (for gasoline vehicles only) but I called in my diesel exemption
number and they apologized and let me go.

Anyone know what other states would allow a registration of a gas to
diesel conversion?  They're getting mildly popular up here.
