Ah yes I forgot the adverse weather conditions... Just had 2006 declared as 
the warmest year on record over here!
For interest:
Skin effect
At 100hz in a thick copper wire 12mm under the skin is 1/7th of the current. 
Iron gives 1mm depth for reduction to 1/7th. weight for weight flat 
conductive bar gives more current capacity than round. In the Mhz realm 
current carried in less than 1/100th  of a mm  hence 10"+ hollow tube coax 
for broadcast transmitters have walls  only a few mm thick... Poynting in 
1883 declared that the power was not actually carried in the wire but in the 
media surrounding the wire... All part of the electrostatic  electromagnetic 
  capacitive inductive thingy :o)
