James just beat me to it!
Your dial gives a 1/10th of an inch per revolution. or 100 thou. Midget 
indicator is just to help you count the 1/10th of incheswhen used where you 
are measuring a bigger stroke. from your infomation the little dial should 
turn 1 complete revoution for a ful stroke of the dial.  for a 1,6TD you are 
only looking for 39 of the outer scale graduations for a 1mm stroke.
