That's the exact condition Dad's was in when it showed up at
the dealer's (that had been helping him find a good deal on one.)
He got it for $5K when they were a $13K car. The car just didn't
"seem" right so I tried to convince him to fix the head and sell it,
then buy the car he wanted. But no, he put a factory rebuild in it
and had full value into the car. Dependable engine but full value.
Ended up the fuel had algae, climate control was really annoying,
tranny had issues as did some of the suspension. Most is fixed
but a different car would've been less work and money.
The head needed all the prechambers replaced as well as some
other things. Rings probably would've needed it too due to heat.
Stuff actually caught fire on the outside of the engine or at least
melted!
