Hi Folks;
	We hear all the horror stories of what is or might be happening with
the ultra low sulfur fuel but I'm wondering if it doesn't have a potential
for better mileage? I have a 1.6 N/A that I rebuilt coupled with a Quantum 5
speed in an 81 Dasher Diesel station wagon. The car it's self got pretty
tired ( bad suspension, broken windshield, dents etc). I retired it a couple
of years ago and bought my wife an 87 Fox gasser wagon. The Fox was not
running and I planed to put the diesel in it but I got the Fox running and
it won't quit so she is still driving it. I acquired an 81 Dasher diesel
wagon a couple of months ago with a bad engine and transplanted the engine
and tranny from my retired Dasher wagon. When driving in the previous wagon
2 or more years ago it was a good mileage rig but mid 40's is what I
remember; Since I put the engine and tranny into the identical Dasher wagon
and started driving it last month I have been averaging over 50 mpg. The
only time it drops below 50 is when I put it on cruise and go down the
freeway with the big boys at 70 mph and then it will get 47.5 mpg. The best
I have done is 57.5 for 300 freeway miles at 60 mph. This morning I filled
the tank and got 53.5. That included the trip to the coast to Loren's
gathering and a lot of other back road driving. I am wondering if the new
USLD is actually more efficient? ? ? ? ?
