In the mean time, the school district is now paying
for some kind of energy source for their shop's
heater. It doesn't matter what kind of energy they
use, there is cost, time, and risk of spillage
involved.
Then, we have to consider the energy that is being
used to transport and refine the old oil as well as
transport whatever has replaced it at the "bus barn".
Both have to be moved somehow and that takes
tremendous amounts of energy if you simply consider
the amount of fuel burned by all the trucks involved.
It's like the Brian Regan joke about the log trucks
passing each other on the highway, "Hey, you guys have
logs over there?"
Sure makes sense to me to just burn the waste oil in a
heater at the bus barn.
