[Vwdiesel] Motor Mount ?

I have yet to see a bad tranny mount. Other end takes all the abuse.
You can get the old rubber mounts out by carefully cutting the steel
band with a hack saw (the rubber mount band, not the engine mount) and
prying them out. From there I have heard about freezing the rubber piece
and heating engine mount but by far the most efficient and least
damaging way to do it is with a press. If you take out the old ones, a
machine shop will usually press the new ones in for you for just a few
bucks. Be sure and note the position/aspect that the new rubber mounts
go into the engine mounts! Draw a picture or something. You can also get
a cheap press from Harbor Freight and do it all yourself. You have to
find the right sized pipe and figure out how to hold the mount on the
press. Sometimes it is a little challenging but fun. Good Luck!!

Subject: [Vwdiesel] Motor Mount ?
I have some round inserts for the motor mounts on the trans and at the
timing belt end of the motor on a rabbit.
Is there a trick to removing and installing the inserts or must a press
be used?
TIA
