The bus I drove the last three years had that engine. 
Compared to some of the newer busses, it was dead
reliable.  

The only problem was the trans was geared for more
city use than anything else, it would outrun all but
the newest of busses (mine was 12 years old) up till
it redlined at about 55-60.

However, I had to take it on long highway trips
occasionally.  I'd just pull the manual throttle out
all the way and go.  The engine would go full bore for
well over an hour with nary a complaint.  If it had a
newer 5 or 6 speed auto, it would have been just
awesome.

I was really chagrined to see old 45 parked in the
back as a spare bus this year though.  :-(  They
bought a whole bunch of new busses.

All that to say that the 466dt is a heck of an engine.
