  IIRC the land speed record for a diesel (pickup?) is 
with a Dakota powered by a modified 5.9 Cummins.  
However I believe they had to cut into the passenger 
compartment a few inches to do it!  Probably not what 
you're looking for.  The Mitsubishi they "put in" the earlier 
D-50 pickups was actually just a Mitsubishi pickup.  
  Maybe something in a larger 4 cylinder from a Nissan, 
Toyota, or Isuzu truck?
