[Vwdiesel] water pump -91 jetta and alt bracket

I realize this has been discussed recently and most had a good experience 
with the cast impeller.
what i don't recall is whether it will be necessary to replace the entire 
housing or just the pump
insert. My pump pulley shaft is loose  in the bearing/seal and leaked out 
all the coolant.
Alternator bracket: My jetta has ac that doesn't work and i won't fix. It is 
rare to see diesels
in the salvage yard though the gassers are plentiful. It looks like the alt 
bracket for gassrs wo
ac would work on my 1.6. Am i creating allot of work for myself on this one/
