[Vwdiesel] Dasher diesel insturment panel removal

I have an '81 Dasher diesel station wagon. When snaking a wire in back of the insterment to hook up an extra water temperature gage knocked something loose so the other gages don't work. Is there any easy way of removing the insterment cluster to see what is wrong? Is it the same as the Rabbit insterment cluster currently under discussiln?
