[Vwdiesel] still bad brakes

  Stiff pedal is no vacuum so pumping the pedal will use it up and 
get stiff.  If it handles a couple pumps then vacuum is ok.
  Pedal to the floor is one of two things or three things,
Low fluid/air which you've checked for.
Misadjusted shoes (self adjuster usually doesn't fail) or worn 
shoes or rear drums.  If pumping the pedal once gives good 
pedal the second or third try, and it stays good, then it's 
most likely the rear "gap" between the shoes and the drum.
  Bad master cylinder.  Generally push the pedal, pump it again 
and if you have pedal, then hold it.  If it falls to the floor slowly 
then it's the mc.  IF not then it GENERALLY isn't but not 
absoulutely.  Just most of the time...  ;-)
