  You know what they say about a picture...  ;-D
  It sounds like it's between the pulley and the clutch.  There 
shouldn't be that much gap though, should only be about .014 
or so (memory guess).  Seems like needle nose pliers, screwdriver 
and such would be the way to get it out of there.  Loosen the 
nut and you don't get much of anywhere without a puller.  You 
MIGHT pry it back a bit if you pry with two bars opposite.  Usually 
doesn't though.  Then you tighten the nut to bring the clutch 
clearance to spec.  Which incidentally is how you set the timing 
on a Brunswick A/A2 pinsetter!  :-)
