Bentley manual describes the test in the Fuel and Exhaust Systems 
chapter, in summary:
35MPH-55 in 4th gear (on a 5 speed, 3rd gear in a 4 speed)  and if it 
takes loner than 16.1 seconds in a 4-speed or 18.6 seconds in a 5-speed, 
use the "improved performance" pump timing numbers in the table.

Hint: I always use the improved performance numbers in the table.
