There are some tremendous "structural" adhesives out there.  We use 
several different types when repairing our Beech 1900 D aircraft.  
Biggest problem is getting the metal clean enough to get a good bond.  
Not sure how well they would stand up to the type of vibrations a car is 
subject to.  I'll have to give them a try as I have a few cans that 
exceeded there expiration date and are not allowed to be used on part 
121 aircraft.
