[Vwdiesel] Stuck rear shock bolt

I would try more penetrant (PB Blaster) turn it a bunch (if you have a
air wrench spin that bolt). Put the nut on loosely to protect the
threads/avoid mushrooming the bolt end- and give it a good heavy blow or
five with a heavy hammer. If the whole bolt is turning it must have some
ridges worn that are catching. If you don't have room to swing your
hammer, you could cut the head of the bolt off and use a punch to give
it a good whack the other direction. You could cut the bolt and shock
hanger in two with a hack saw/sawzall then work on 1/2 at a time. Sounds
like you will be replacing that bolt anyway so whatever it takes short
of damaging the car's shock mount.

Subject: [Vwdiesel] Stuck rear shock bolt

Hi all,

I am changing the rear shocks on my 84 Rabbit the lower bolt of the
shock is stuck. I got the nut off, but I can't get the bolt to slide
through so I can get the lower part of the shock out. It turns and I
have tried heating it with a torch, that just seems to make it turn
easier, but I still can't push it out or bang it through. Anybody got
any tips.

Thanks

Dave
