Pry the metal tabs away from the bottom of the shock bushing so that there
is a gap wide enough to fit a hacksaw blade, or a cutoff wheel in a die
grinder into, and cut the end off the bolt. Then do the same thing in the
other side of the shock bushing, cutting off the other end of the bolt.
You will of course have to have new bolts. The shock has a steel sleeve in
the center of it's bushing and the bolt will rust in place making removal
nearly impossible. When reinstalling the bolt through the bushing coat
both parts liberally with grease or never seize. That will make it easier
for the next time.

Hi all,

I am changing the rear shocks on my 84 Rabbit the
lower bolt of the shock is stuck. I got the nut off,
but I can't get the bolt to slide through so I can get
the lower part of the shock out. It turns and I have
tried heating it with a torch, that just seems to make
it turn easier, but I still can't push it out or bang
it through. Anybody got any tips.

Thanks

Dave
