[Vwdiesel] 97 TDI ECU

Hi all,

I am getting a code on my 97 Jetta... I forgot the # b/c I haven't checked it recently but it is called "ECM Read Only Memory Error".  From my sources... it seems that it si a malfunctioning ECM (ECU... whatever).  If anyone has something extra to add on this diasgnosis please feel free.  My intended question is where can I get a new or rebuilt ECM?  Or... since I need one, can I buy a chipped ECM from someone?  Anyone have any experience buying a chipped ECM from a vendor?

I am definitely new into the TDIs... any advice is good.
