[Vwdiesel] 97 TDI ECU

Fernando, My 98 Jetta TDI is on it second ECU and when my daughter had hers, 
we had to replace the ECU on it also.  Both would run just fine but gave 
almost the exact message you are talking about.  My dealer called it " a 
nonfatal processor error".  If you can't live with the light, or like Texas, 
your state will not pass a car with a check engine light, then your only 
hope is a replacement ECU.  I did an on line parts search with import junk 
yards to find mine but buying a chipped one (mine is chipped) directly from 
a supplier would be easier.  Hayden
